The campaign manager supports Push Notifications as a main communication channel similar to SMS or email. This support is right out of the box with no special configuration necessary. Both iOS and Android mobile devices are supported following the corresponding specifications of both services:
The use of Push Notifications from the campaign manager offers some significant advantages over the direct connection to the notification servers:
Consistency across all communication channels
Rich messages. By default the Campaign Manager and the SDK use
HTML to deliver rich media and interactive messages.
Delivery receipts similar to those provided for SMS or email
Silent notifications. Working in conjunction with the
Campaign Manager SDK, the mobile device application that receives the notification may decide to display it or not to the user
More reliable delivery. The regular notification servers operate under a best delivery effort promise. The campaign manager goes much further by periodically checking for undelivered notifications
